Letter from the Directors

Dear Chantilly Choral Music Student,

On behalf of Mr. Cockrell and Mr. Fuchs, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the Chantilly High School Choral Department. We're pleased that you have chosen to represent your school, family, and community as a member of our nationally recognized and award-winning program.

Along with this honor comes a responsibility. We believe in being the best at what we do, and that our success really depends on you. You should be prepared to demonstrate a level of sacrifice, commitment, and dedication that is represented in your deep desire to perform and excel. In this way, the Chantilly Choral Department can succeed on the high level that is our trademark. Consider how you will invest your personal practice, time, and energy each time that you step into your role as a Choral Student and commit yourself to the highest level of dedication in these areas.

This is the beginning of your journey. We urge you to plan wisely and take your role very seriously. The contents of this packet will not only inform you, but will also challenge you! Read each page carefully and take the information to heart. Also realize that much of the course content is not included here. That material comes as part of the day-to-day routine in class and rehearsals; it’s part of the educational process. This year will be an unforgettable one, to be sure!

Our dedicated staff looks forward to working with all of you throughout the school year. Our primary goal is to offer a broad, exciting and well-balanced curriculum that develops character, as well as musical and performance ability. We believe that your boundless energy and abilities will come forth to provide the best in musical education. We hope that your experience with us will be rewarding, educational, memorable and fun. Of course, without you, ours is an empty, silent, classroom, so we gladly welcome you and encourage your utmost participation. Now let’s get to work!
